Phobjikha Valley
Trek through the splendid U-shaped glacial valley of Phobjikha (3000 m) as you pass by remote villages, picturesque meadows, vast fields and ancient monasteries. Home to the rare black-necked cranes that migrate here during the winter season, the valley lies to the east of the Wangdue Phodrang mountains. Along the trail, you can also visit the Taktsang monastery, which is held in high esteem by all Buddhists. The route also features Gangtey Monastery nestled in the black mountains of Bhutan, a historically significant monastery of Nyingmapa school of Buddhism and the main seat of the Pema Lingpa tradition.
