Day 5: Check out and drive to Dehradun Airport

Check out after breakfast and begin your scenic drive back to Dehradun Airport. The journey winds through mountain roads, river valleys, and forested landscapes, marking the end of your Himalayan experience as you prepare for your onward journey.

Day 4: Descent & Drive to Landour

Descend from Dodital through forest trails back to Agoda Village, concluding the trek. From here, drive to Landour (approx. 5 hours), winding through mountain roads and changing landscapes.

Day 3: Climb to darwa pass

Today is the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek. Ascend to Darwa Pass (3,700 m), where expansive views of the Garhwal Himalayas open up, including a striking close view of the snow-clad Bandarpunch peak. From the pass, continue along a scenic ridge to Darwa Top (4,100 m), the highest point of the trek, offering sweeping panoramic views in every direction. After time at the top, descend back to Dodital.

Day 2: Reach dodital - birthplace of lord Ganesh ji

Embark on a scenic trek through a dense Himalayan forest trail, winding through oak, deodar, and rhododendron trees, leading up to Dodital — a tranquil, high-altitude freshwater lake. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks and lush alpine meadows, Dodital is not only known for its serene beauty but also holds mythological significance as the believed birthplace of Lord Ganesha.

Fly to Dehra dun and on to Uttarkashi

Fly in Dehra Dun and drive on to Uttarkashi in Western Garhwal. A side road leads to Sangam Chetti and on to Agoda Village, which is the starting point for this trek. Accommodation is provided in a homestay, offering a comfortable stay and meals.

Challenges to Expect

Steep ascents and descents, especially near Darwa Pass, long walking hours on consecutive days, river crossings, and possible snow patches in early season. Weather can change quickly at higher elevations, and some sections are remote with limited exit points. Proper acclimatization and pacing are essential.

Fitness Expectations

A good level of physical fitness is required. You should be able to comfortably trek 6–7 hours per day with a backpack across varied terrain. Prior cardio training (running, cycling, stair climbing) and leg-strength exercises are strongly recommended. Experience above 3,500 meters will be an advantage.

Do I need to acclimatise for a Himalayan trek?

Yes—acclimatization is critical for any trip above 2,700–3,000 meters, and Juniper takes it seriously. Our itineraries are intentionally designed with built-in rest or acclimatization days, gradual altitude gains, and a “climb high, sleep low”philosophy to reduce your chances of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). On the trail, our guides monitor everyone’s health and hydration closely. If you’re coming from sea level, we recommend arriving at the start point (like Leh orManali) at least a day in advance to rest and begin the process. For strenuous or high-altitude treks (over 4,000 m), we also offer acclimatisation extensions or prep treks. Most travellers adjust well with proper pacing, hydration, and nutrition. We provide tips and protocols in your pre-departure kit, and our team carries oxygen cylinders and first aid if needed. Your safety is our top priority—no summit is worth compromising your health.

What safety measures do you have in place during your trips?

Safety is non-negotiable at Juniper Outdoor. Every trip is led by a certified wilderness first responder (WFR) or trained mountain guide, equipped to handle altitude sickness, minor injuries, and emergencies. We carry comprehensive first aid kits, pulse oximeters, and oxygen cylinders on all high-altitude expeditions. Our campsites are chosen for safe terrain and proximity to evacuation routes when needed. For more remote trips, we have satellite communication devices and access to rescue services. We limit group sizes to ensure individual attention and regularly conduct risk assessments during the journey. Additionally, we brief all participants on mountain hygiene, hydration, and acclimatization best practices. Your pre-departure pack will also include a checklist of safety essentials you should carry personally. Our ethos is simple: the mountain will always be there — we don’t take unnecessary risks. What kind of gear do I need to bring for the trek?

We provide a detailed packing list tailored to each region, season, and difficulty. Generally, you’ll need sturdy trekking shoes, a daypack, weatherproof outerwear (like a rain jacket or down jacket), layered clothing for cold and warm conditions, a headlamp, refillable water bottles, sun protection, and personal toiletries. For multi-day treks, we recommend moisture-wicking base layers, gloves, a warm hat, and trekking poles. Juniper provides all group camping gear — tents, sleeping bags, mats, and technical equipment (ice axes, crampons, if needed). We also help connect you with rental services if you’re missing something, especially for big-ticket items like jackets or sleeping bags. Packing light but smart is key. What kind of food is served during the trip?

Food is a big part of the Juniper experience. Whether you’re in a guesthouse, mountain lodge, or remote campsite, you’ll be served nutritious, locallynutritious,locally inspired meals designed to fuel your journey. On the trail, our kitchen team prepares hot breakfast (think porridge, eggs, paratha), packed or hot lunches, evening snacks, and hearty dinners (dal, rice, vegetables, pasta, or local dishes). We use clean water, fresh ingredients, and avoid oily or spicy food at altitude. Hot drinks like tea, coffee, and soups are always available. We cater to vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free diets on request. If you have allergies or specific preferences, let us know in advance — we take dietary needs seriously. Meals are timed to your exertion, ensuring you’re energized for the climb and able to recover properly. Expect delicious mountain hospitality: soul food with a view.

What is Juniper Outdoor’s cancellation and refund policy?

Life happens — and we aim to be as fair and transparent as possible. If you need to cancel your trip, we request written notice as early as possible. Our standard policy:

  • 90+ days before departure: 90% refund
  • 60–89 days: 75% refund
  • 30–59 days: 50% refund
  • Less than 30 days: No refund (though we may offer a partial credit depending on the situation)

Refunds are processed to your original payment method, minus any non-recoverable costs like permits or third-party bookings. In case of trip cancellation due to weather, political unrest, or unforeseen force majeure events, we typically reschedule or offer full credit for future travel. We highly recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation due to illness, emergencies, or flightdisruption. Please check individual trip pages, as custom trips or international expeditions may have slightly different policies. Our priority is to find a solution that works for both of us. In base towns or en route, we partner with charming boutique guesthouses, homestays, and eco-lodges that reflect local character and comfort. On some trails, like in Bhutan or Nepal, we may use mountain lodges (tea houses) with basic but clean shared rooms and common facilities. In remote wilderness settings, our camps include a dining tent, toilet tents, and kitchen setups for full-service camping. For premium experiences, we offer glamping upgrades with large tents or hotels with heaters, or full bedding if you are only interested in luxury travel or a comfortable stay – look at your trip format tagged “Active Holidays”.
